A day in the mountains
Taif sits high in the Sarawat mountains, about 90 km from Makkah — roughly 1 hour 30 minutes each way on a winding mountain road with wide views. It is noticeably cooler than Makkah, which makes it a welcome break during a long stay.
What pilgrims visit
- Masjid Abdullah ibn Abbas — named after the Companion buried nearby.
- Masjid Addas — remembered for the story of Addas, who met the Prophet ﷺ in Taif.
- Fruit gardens, rose farms (in season) and markets selling honey and Taif roses.
Your driver plans the order with you, and you can add lunch and shopping stops.
Miqat on the way back
Taif lies outside the miqat. If you plan another Umrah after the trip, you can enter ihram at Qarn al-Manazil (As-Sayl al-Kabir) on the way back — tell your driver in advance.
